John H. Pearson Trust Fund
In 1992 the Grande Prairie and District Association for the Mentally Handicapped established the John H. Pearson Trust Fund, made possible by funds donated to the Association by Mr. Pearson in his estate. Mr. Pearson was unknown to the Association, but willed approximately $75,000 to the agency when he passed away.
The board decided to put the funds into a long-term investment and give what it earned in interest to Lifelong Learning in support of their “Adult Basic Literacy Classes.” Every year since then the fund has provided a $5,000 grant to help the classes keep operating.
